The property is new and very clean. We booked the family room which didn’t disappoint. Place is very well designed with new bath, toilet and furniture. The hosts were a perfect example of omotenashi. ( Japanese hospitality) Next to the guesthouse there is an izakaya place owned by the same family. We had a great time having dinner there. i totally recommend it. During the evening we took a stroll to the lit up places, just 5-10 min away, walking distance. From the property to the Okunoin Cemetery we walked 40-50 min, exploring also the neighborhood, and all the surrounding temples.

The temple was beautiful and immaculate, the main hall and the smaller temple outside were amazing. My entire experience from the meals to the fire ceremony were one in a million. Emiko took a lot of time to make me feel very welcome and explain all of the symbolisms behind the meals and the prayers. I will definitely be back. Thank you.

Simple, but comfortable, room. Snow scenes outside made it feel that bit more cozy. I liked wearing the monk's samu-e wear. Food was nice, nutritious shojin ryori (plant-based Buddhist monk cooking). Seemed like small portions at first, but it was plenty! Due to Corona food was served in separate rooms.
